With the goal of funding a series of priorities key to its strategic plans, D’Youville College has kicked-off a $20 million fundraising effort—its largest ever. Known as The D’Youville Campaign, the initiative carries the slogan “For Our Students, For Our Future.”
“In the past, the College has completed targeted fundraising for specific projects, but never anything on this scale,” explains Andy Dorn. “This really is a step into a new era.” Dorn, who is chairman and CFO of Demand Response Partners, is serving as one of three campaign co-chairs.
As of the launch, the College had already secured $9.8 million toward its goal. The donor investment will fund three major initiatives: completion of D’Youville’s first outdoor athletic facilities, increased endowment funding for scholarships and financial aid, and construction of a major new academic building.
“Early reaction has been extremely positive,” says Katie Juhasz, also a campaign co-chair and president of the Kenneth L. and Katherine G. Koessler Family Foundation. “I haven’t spoken to anyone who wasn't intrigued and excited.”
Kathy Lawley Best, director of organizational development/ communications at Lawley Insurance and the third co-chair, agrees. “This is something that matters to people across the College and beyond,” she explains. “Those who care about the quality of life in our city and neighborhood know the impact D’Youville has had. Now, they are stepping forward to help.”
“There are a lot of campaigns out there, all competing for the same dollars,” adds Juhasz. “Fortunately, people give where they see their money making a major difference—and that is clearly true at D’Youville.”
